February 2012- Celebrate Black History Month with Hair Loss Awareness

Hair Loss Symposium 2012- February 11 @ 1:00 PM

The World Trichology Institute presents Hair Loss Symposium 2012. In celebration of Black History Month join The WTI as we bring awareness to hair loss among men, women, and children. This exciting and informative symposium draws attention to hair loss and scalp problems from a multi-practitioner perspective. Join Trichologist Lisa Akbari, Endocrinologist Dr. Beverly Williams-Cleaves and Dermatologist Dr. Robert Jackson for informative presentations and discussion panel.

This event is hosted by the World Trichology Institute at 1288 Sycamore View, Memphis, TN 38134. Admission is free of charge and presentations are at 1:00, panel discussion at 2:00 PM.

Workshops

“Mommy and Me/ Daddy and Me”: Parents will learn how to manage and style their child’s hair

“Naturally Yours”: We will teach you how to nurture your natural hair, keeping it soft, hydrated, manageable, and healthy. You will learn how to do Lisa Akbari’s “Curly Fro,” and much more

“Hair 101: Workshop for College Students”: This is for on-the-go students on a budget. Students will learn quick, easy steps to keep their hair healthy without the added stress!

“Stylin’ Seniors”: We want you to have beautiful hair at any age. This workshop is just for seniors, who want to keep a fresh, healthy look

“Just for Men Intro”: This workshop is exclusively for males who need help taking care of their hair and scalp. This workshop is free.

Classes:

“How to Roller Set”: You will learn how to roll your hair. This will be great for women who do not know how to roll hair, want an alternative to using heated tools, or want to wear curly styles due to new growth.

“Hair in the Summertime”: You will learn how to keep your hair and scalp clean, hydrated, and styled in the heat of the summer. This is also great if you plan to swim or play sports.

“Managing your New Growth”: We will teach you how to keep your new growth manageable and tangle-free. Whether you are deciding to go natural or relaxing your hair less often to stop over-processing or transitioning between styles, this will be a great class to learn how to use the Hair Nutrition System and how to style your hair.

“Using Heated Tools”: You will learn how to use heated tools in a healthy way, with the appropriate products and techniques. If you press or use flat irons and curling irons, this class is great for you!

"How to manage your long hair:" Learn how to prevent tangles, detangle, manage, as well as quick fix styles for long hair.
